Storytelling Concerts

Sure Foot’s founder, president, and lead guide, Jonah McDonald is a professional storyteller and serves on the board of the Southern Order of Storytellers. Therefore, storytelling is integrated into all Sure Foot trips.

Jonah specializes in “trickster tales” such as Jack Tales, Brer Rabbit tales, and other tricksters from around the world (Finn McCool, Ananzi, etc.) He also tells stories from his personal experience hiking and growing up. Jonah likes to combine humor and philosophical depth in his stories. Currently, he is working on retellings of biblical stories such as the story of Jonah, the Christmas story, and Abraham & Issac. His favorite story is called “Slaying the Giants” and combines humorous poignant stories of his childhood with the traditional Irish tale of Finn McCool.
