Cumberland Island

We at Sure Foot Adventures have done a lot of adventuring in a lot of different places. Still, Cumberland Island Seashore is one of our very favorite places in America.

cumberlandsunsetAmong its many charms are the feral horses, saw palmettos, live oaks dripping with Spanish moss, pristine beaches, paths peppered with sharks teeth, and cute (and seemingly tame) armadillos.

Each year, Sure Foot Adventures leads multiple excursions to the island to help people experience this national treasure. As a National Seashore, only a limited number of people are allowed on the island at any given time – and then, the only access is given by ferry.

We meet in St. Marys, Georgia (about 6 hours from Atlanta) and take a morning ferry to Cumberland Island, camp two nights, and then return by ferry. Some of our trips include only a 1/2 mile walk to the Seacamp Campground while other trips include backpacking to sites farther north on the island.

Please join us to explore this unique and extraordinary island!
