Amicalola Falls Wildflowers Day Hike

“Scent of a Wild Flower”

Take time to smell (and admire) the flowers this spring alongside one of the most magnificent cascading waterfalls in the Southeast. We’ll hike 3 miles abutting the southernmost point of the Appalachian Trail. This day hike is not to be missed — especially for fans of humorist Bill Bryson, whose book “A Walk in the Woods” recounts his adventures on the very same trail.

Trail Description: We will hike to the top of the falls, which consists of 600 stair steps. This is the most strenuous part of the hike, which will otherwise be on well-traveled paths with much less incline.

Panther Creek Falls Day Hike

“Rails, Rocks, and Waterfalls”

Here’s a hike for your book of bragging rights. We’ll follow Panther Creek upstream to the Panther Creek Falls. Adrenaline addicts are sure to love the rugged spots where metal cables serve as railings to make sure we stay on our feet. Getting warm thinking about it?  A gorgeous and natural pool of river water at our destination is sure to cool you down for the trip home.

Off the Beaten Path: 2

Trail Description: This first two-thirds of the hike to the falls is moderate, but the last section climbs over the rocks above the falls and then drops to the base of the falls. The trail is very well-maintained, but takes some rock-scrambling to complete the last portion. This is also a long hike, in terms of mileage.

Chattooga River & Dicks Creek Falls Day Hike

“Take a swim!”

The “Wild & Scenic” Chattooga River is the perfect place to take a summer dip in the water at a natural sandy beach. Nearby, 60-foot Dicks Creek Falls plunges into the Chattooga while kayakers paddle by. This relatively easy hike is not to be missed. Bring your water shoes, swim suit, and camera.

Trail Description: This trail is well-traveled and contains only moderate elevation gain. The joy of this hike is the scenery, which includes, creeks, lush forests, and the Wild & Scenic Chattooga River. There are three miles of gravel road on the way to the trailhead.

Rabun Bald Day Hike

“Sky High!”

You’ll want to bring your camera for this one! Ascend the second-tallest peak in Georgia at 4,696 feet: Rabun Bald. This peak experience is one of the best in the Southeast, offering 360-degree, panoramic views.In addition to the bird’s eye view, you’re in for some bird watching and a strenuous climb. This 8-mile hike is not for the novice hiker. But the steep ascent – and steeper summit – offer a natural high sure to become a highlight of your summer.

Trail Description: Though the trail to the top of Rabun Bald is well-maintained and oft-traveled, it is very steep. We will climb almost 2000 feet in four miles and then walk back down the way we came. Though this hike is a challenge, we’ve seen a wide variety of people complete it. There is a short section of gravel road on the way to the trailhead.

!! FULL !! Emery Creek Falls Day Hike (waiting list available)

“Get your feet wet in the woods!”

Strap on your sandals and join us on a perfect summer hike on the Emery Creek Trail. The trail includes ten easy crossings of Emery Creek en route to the two waterfalls. Beneath the cool, lush, green forest canopy, we’ll dip our toes in the water whenever the summer warmth inspires us. The two secluded waterfalls are breathtaking and a perfect place for us to sit and eat our trail lunches.

Trail Description: This trail has a minimum of elevation gain, but crosses the creek 10 times over a span of three miles. The creek crossings are shallow but have some slippery rocks. Your guide always offers a hand if need it. There is a short section of gravel road on the way to the trailhead.
